APO-go apomorphine solution can be given as an infusion, thus providing continuous stimulation of the dopamine receptors in the brain. This type of treatment may be beneficial for those individuals who:
-
suffer long ‘off’ periods, where the oral medication benefit time is short (less than six hours a day)
-
require a lot of single apomorphine injections each day (eg more than six to eight)
-
have very severe involuntary movements due to levodopa therapy
Continuous infusion is given using a small portable pump. The infusion is prepared either by using a pre-mixed (pre-filled) syringe of APO-go PFS, or by mixing a diluted solution manually using APO-go drawn from an ampoule. For further information on pre-filled syringes or ampoules see the 'Treatment literature' page.
The Crono APO-go pump has been designed specifically for Parkinson’s disease patients using apomorphine.
Further information about continuous infusion is available on the 'Publications and links' page.
